Cooler weather, Clemson football and one of the best Christmas light shows in the area: fall and the holidays are a great time to be in Anderson. Here are ten things on our calendar this season, from this weekend through the new year.

October

1. Electric City Food Truck Festival and Halloween Fun Run (Sat, Oct 24). A new City of Anderson event at the Anderson Recreation Center and Linley Park, 1107 N Murray Ave, starting at 11:30 AM. Wear a costume for the one-mile fun run, then grab lunch from local food trucks with live music and kids' activities.

2. Clemson vs. Virginia Tech (Sat, Oct 24). Death Valley is only about 20 miles up the road. Kickoff times are set by the ACC closer to game day.

3. Halls of PAWS Halloween (Fri, Oct 30). Trick-or-treating, local vendors, food and an outdoor DJ at Anderson County PAWS, 1320 Hwy 29 S, from 4 to 8 PM. Dogs welcome.

November

4. Mistletoe Market at the Museum (Sat, Nov 7). Handmade gifts from Upstate artists and crafters at the Anderson County Museum, 202 E Greenville St, 9 AM to 4 PM. A great way to start your Christmas shopping.

5. Holly Jolly Holiday Fair (Nov 13-15). A weekend holiday craft and gift show at the Civic Center of Anderson.

6. Clemson home games (Nov 14 and Nov 28). The Tigers host Georgia Tech on the 14th and close the regular season against South Carolina on the 28th.

7. Anderson Christmas Lights (Nov 26 to Dec 25). Drive about 2.5 miles of lights at 105 Rose Valley Blvd near the Civic Center, nightly from 5:30 to 10 PM, then stop at the Christmas Village to see Santa. About $15 per car, with proceeds going to local charities.

December and the holidays

8. Farmers Market Holiday Market (Saturdays, late Nov through Dec). Local vendors, baked goods and gifts at the Anderson County Farmers Market, 402 N Murray Ave, 10 AM to 2 PM, rain or shine.

9. Ice in the Park (early Dec to early Jan). A real ice skating rink in Carolina Wren Park downtown. Last season it ran December 1 through January 4, so watch the city's website for this year's dates.

10. Tree Lighting and the City Christmas Parade (December). Downtown glows with more than 100,000 lights on Main Street. The county tree lighting is on the Courthouse Plaza in early December, and the city's Christmas parade is traditionally the first Sunday in December at 3 PM.
